DPC DATA Announces the Launch of MuniCREDIT Solutions
New product portfolio offers four+ years of comprehensive financial and operating data for 24,000+ Obligors in the municipal market.
ROSELAND, NJ, July 22, 2022 – DPC DATA, a leading provider of data and technology solutions for the U.S. municipal bond market, announced the launch of its MuniCREDIT Solutions. This product line provides comprehensive and affordable municipal credit data to credit analysts and portfolio managers. It is based on the company’s proprietary Obligor and Sector Mapping Methodology, which allows market participants to identify the actual credit or Direct Obligor in every transaction.
MuniCREDIT Solutions addresses several problems in the muni market today:
- Restrictions on data use or incomplete or expensive data feeds from other muni data providers;
- Coverage gaps for bank-qualified or smaller issuers and high-yield sectors (e.g., senior living);
- Data is not always updated from interim disclosure documents;
- Too many distinct sectors shoehorned into a few data templates.
“We developed MuniCREDIT with input from some of our key clients and experienced credit analysts, in keeping with our tradition of being client-centric and responsive to client needs. This product line will help our clients better compete and succeed in the evolving muni marketplace,” said Ken Hoffman, president of DPC DATA, who further notes the company is celebrating its 30th year serving the municipal bond market.
The MuniCREDIT portfolio includes:
- MuniCREDIT Online – a subscription-based platform offering on-demand access to DPC’s database for users conducting detailed credit analysis. As an option, clients can add MuniESG Scores to their subscription. This enables users to analyze climate exposure in the context of the municipal issuer’s overall fiscal resources.
- MuniCREDIT Financials – financial data for the 24,000+ Obligors, spanning all major sectors. Available as a data feed or in customized report formats.
- MuniCREDIT Mapping – Users can replace their internal sector mapping scheme – which most likely only covers their own holdings – with DPC’s Obligor and Sector Mapping. The DPC methodology identifies the true Direct Obligor in every active issue – the only criterion is “Credit” not “Purpose” – then re-maps all Sector Classifications based on this identification.
A two-year product development initiative
The announcement comes as DPC DATA completes a major two-year undertaking to reorganize its Obligor database to focus on credit. For this initiative, the company hired and trained over 40 credit research analysts. This team then evaluated and analyzed four years of financial and operating statements for 24,000+ Obligors.
“Our team tailored data templates for 100+ municipal sectors so financial and operating data would be presented consistently. They rigorously analyzed and standardized millions of data points across the Obligors to ensure data accuracy,” said Triet Nguyen, DPC’s vice president of strategic data operations. “As a result, we are able to offer our clients comprehensive and reliable coverage of Obligors, based on the Issuers’ capital structure.”
Hoffman noted, “Over the next several months, we’ll be showcasing how MuniCREDIT can be used in client workflows to improve data accuracy and offer better insights. We’ll be publishing case studies based on actual market events to show how MuniCREDIT is applicable across municipal sectors.”
